I want to apologize for the downtime we experienced over the weekend. WindFallHits was offline for almost 3 days Friday through Sunday. I had been very disappointed with this server and was considering a change when the problem started. We are now on a more reliable server that will work much better for us.
I've had very little sleep from dealing with the problem and coming back online so I'll make this message as brief as I can.
I've taken steps to backup our email database so that we're not out of touch with our members for any length of time. We attempted to do this before but were unable to finish by the time we were offline. I realize that communication is an important part of a successful program. Now that we have your email addresses backed up, we will stay in communication as much as necessary to keep you updated should there be a problem in the future.
Since WFH was offline during the time when many people do their weekly surfing, we are granting everyone an exemption for last week. Everyone is seen as completing their surfing requirement for rebate.
I'd like to comment on the today's rebate. The rebate is much lower than the last rebate. The low rebate rate was all due to outside factors, not to the new business model. Since I've been a little sleep deprived to deal with the server problem, I'm not sure if it was figured accurately. I am checking into that now. I will let you know if there is a change.
That being said, I think it's important to expect that the rebate rate will drop during a period of adjustment in the new business model. In the old model, rebates were based on the amount of revenue that was generated from weekly sales. Our new business model is designed to pay rebates for a long time. The new model directs all advertising revenue into income-producing channels and shares the income from these financial ventures with advertising members who hold adpacks. In this way the advertising revenue generates rebate income over and over instead of one time as in the old plan. Even with a drop in rebates the new business model keeps your adpacks safer than it was when it was dependent solely on new sales.
New income came in from advertising sales (since our last rebate in the old model) which was added to our venture pool where it will start earning money for our next rebate.
